Definition

Veedoor - the opening at the rig floor, opposite from the drawworks used to move casing, pipe, or tools from the catwalk to the rig floor and up into the derrick.

As a joke to new personnel on the rig, they are often asked to find the key to the Veedoor. There is no actual door or lock, and it is just a long standing practical joke to play on "Green" hands.

Our Beginnings

The idea for VeeDoor.com was hatched after I graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. In high school, I had worked for an oilfield company, and I figured this would be the best place to start my career. By working my way up from the bottom, I could gain the experience I would need to move my way into a career in sales. The initial job search was not as easy as I would have thought. I combed through various employer websites, the big job boards, and local newspapers. Eventually, I started my first job after graduation working in the field installing SCSSV's for one of the oilfield's largest service providers. To me, being on an oil rig and witnessing the technology firsthand was an amazing experience. After gaining the initial experience, I moved to another Fortune 500 Oil and Gas Company to a career in inside sales. The job searches did leave me wondering, "There has got to be an easier way..." Thus, VeeDoor.com was started several years later.
